Very true. We has a HDHP this past year and it was pretty horrible considering how much we had to pay out of pocket in addition to what they were taking out of my husband’s checks. I liked the HSA factor, but it’s definitely give and take.

I see the trend towards high deductible health plans to keep premiums low(er), but it concerns me because most people don’t have an emergency fund, let alone a designated medical emergency fund, to cover unexpected medical costs.
